Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has come out to share his thoughts on the recent cases of rape and segxwal abuse in the country. The singer in a post shared on his social media page explained that women weren’t created for men and it is important for men to get that ideology in their head.

He shared that it is not a coincidence that 95% of rapists are either Christians or Muslims and asked people to stop pushing the narrative that women are raped because of what they wear. He called on men to fight rape culture and also stop respecting every institution or ideology that promotes rape culture. He said as long as these institutions and ideologies are respected and encouraged women will never be safe.

He wrote;

Quote
Women weren’t created for men. Women weren’t created at all, for men. That lie must be erased from ur head. It’s not a coincidence that 95 percent of all rapists are both Christians and Muslims. African women walked around practically naked for 1000s of years so what women wear isn’t an excuse neither. How about the damage the Catholic church is doing to our boys and sharia courts sentencing women who defend themselves from rape to death!! We must fight rape culture. I keep telling you guys, as long as u still respect institutions and ideologies that strengthen rape culture, our women will never be safe. #getthesax
