Singer Temmie Ovwasa has slammed Nigerians for constantly making jokes about Yaba left (a psychiatric home owned by the government ). It is a popular slang in Nigeria when talking about madness or mental health.
The singer in a post shared on her Instagram page berated Nigerians for making jokes about the place stating that it is not funny and gives a really bad light on mental health, mental illness, and therapy. She explained that a lot of people have never lost their minds so they do not understand what people with Psychosis go through.
Temmie shared that there is a look Nigerians give people who struggle with mental illness and it further affects those people. She appreciated her mother for never giving her that look and supporting her even in her most damaged state.
