On Tuesday, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, together with his running mate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, received an endorsement from the Council of National Students Presidents of Nigeria.
Atiku, represented by Yakubu Dogara, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, emphasized that they were not seeking political power out of desperation, but to unite the country, address the issue of insecurity, and revive the struggling economy.
Dogara added that Atiku and Okowa believe that they have the necessary skills and experience to stabilize the country, and that they are committed to fulfilling the promises they make. He also commended the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, for his policy on naira redesign, which he believes will prevent vote-buying and lead to more credible elections in the future.
Philip Aduda, the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, praised Atiku as an educationist who has never experienced a strike at his university, and someone who is trustworthy and reliable.
The Chairman of CNSPN, Obaji Uchenna Marshal, explained that students are paying close attention to the electoral process, and after examining the working documents of all the leading candidates, have concluded that the PDP’s manifesto, with Atiku and Okowa’s tickets, is the most reliable and educationally friendly. He added that the manifesto goes beyond mere political promises, providing a blueprint on how to achieve those promises.
In summary, Atiku and Okowa are seeking political power to address the country’s issues, not out of desperation, and have been endorsed by the Council of National Students Presidents of Nigeria, who found their manifesto to be the most reliable and educationally friendly.
