In a recent revelation, Nigerian singer Candy Bleakz has opened up about a missed opportunity with YBNL Nation, a renowned record label in the Nigerian music industry.

During her appearance on the TV programme "Trending," hosted by reality star KimOprah, Candy Bleakz disclosed that she was on the verge of being signed to YBNL Nation back in 2015. She expressed her disappointment at losing the opportunity to Temmie Ovwasa, who was unveiled by the label boss, Olamide, as the YBNL Princess instead.

Reflecting on the incident, Candy Bleakz shared, "The day Baddo (Olamide) unveiled Temmie Ovwasa, she is my friend but I was really sad. I was supposed to be the YBNL Princess. I was like, 'Why did they sign someone else?'"

In addition to discussing her missed opportunity with YBNL Nation, Candy Bleakz shed light on the challenges faced by female artists in Nigeria. She highlighted the double standards and criticism that female artists often encounter, regardless of their appearance or style.

"For a female artist, when you’re pretty it’s a problem, when you’re ugly it’s a problem. When you’re too sexy it’s an issue and when you are not it’s an issue," she lamented. "Because I’m bringing something to the table but you will see comments like, ‘She’s not fine. She’s not dressing sexy. And at the same time, when she is fine they would want her to bring something to the table."

Candy Bleakz's candid remarks provide insight into the challenges faced by female artists in navigating the music industry, shedding light on the complexities and expectations associated with their careers.
