
In a recent development, the Jigawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended a suspected armed robber accused of molesting a 20-year-old housewife in Ringim Local Government Area of the state.
The disclosure was made by the state Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, during a press briefing held on Thursday, March 28, 2024. CP Abdullahi revealed that the suspect, along with two accomplices, was arrested following the reported incident.
According to CP Abdullahi, the suspects, identified as Abubakar Isah, Umar Ibrahim, and Umar Nasara, allegedly armed with cutlasses, unlawfully entered the residence of Mudan Ibrahim in Chori Village, Ringim LGA. They reportedly robbed him of five bags of pepper before one of them segxwally assaulted his wife, Ummi Garba, aged 20.
Mudan Ibrahim promptly reported the incident to the Ringim Division, prompting swift action from detectives. The suspects, all residents of Chori village, were apprehended in connection with the crime.
Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery and rape case. They were subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.
CP Abdullahi assured the public that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the completion of the investigation, emphasizing the commitment of the police command to ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining law and order in the state.
