A 29-year-old woman has been left fighting for her life after a brutal, premeditated stabbing attack by her former lover at her home in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal, early on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
The woman, who had returned from a party, was ambushed by her ex-lover who had been lying in wait. After she entered her residence on Goat Street, he confronted her with accusations of infidelity, alleging she had been seeing other men.
In a fit of rage, the suspect produced a kitchen knife and launched a violent assault, stabbing her multiple times until the knife broke. The woman managed to call out for help, which alerted her neighbours and caused the attacker to flee the scene.
The victim, suffering from severe injuries to her head and body, was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
At approximately 01:18 AM, members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the scene and began a thorough search for the assailant. Despite their efforts, the suspect remains at large.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as investigations continue into this horrifying domestic violence case.
