A major drug interception was recorded on Monday, May 5, as operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested a man, Rufai Nasiru, along the Bode Saadu–Jebba expressway in Kwara State.
Nasiru was caught in possession of 45,400 pills of Tramadol, a highly regulated opioid medication often abused for its stimulant effects. The confiscated drugs were of the 225mg strength, one of the most potent and restricted variants of the substance.
The arrest forms part of NDLEA’s ongoing nationwide efforts to clamp down on the trafficking and abuse of pharmaceutical opioids, which have contributed to Nigeria's growing substance abuse crisis.
