In a bid to clamp down on the rampant activities of drug hawkers plaguing the Apapa area and its environs in Lagos State, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intensified its efforts.
Led by NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate, the operation forms part of the agency’s relentless campaign to combat the unauthorized distribution and sale of pharmaceuticals.
In a recent raid, a significant number of drug hawkers fell into the hands of the law, with a substantial cache of illicit drugs seized in the process.
Among the confiscated items were various illicit substances, including aphrodisiacs, potent narcotics like tramadol, antibiotics, and a range of over-the-counter medications.
Authorities estimate the combined street value of the seized drugs to hover around Fifty Million Naira.
Individuals apprehended in connection with this illegal drug trade are set to face prosecution, as NAFDAC aims to send a stern message to all those involved in such illicit activities.
Moreover, the seized drugs are slated for immediate destruction, ensuring they do not find their way back into circulation, safeguarding public health and safety.
