The Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported a fatal accident on the Osun-Ondo expressway, which claimed the lives of four individuals on Sunday.
State Sector Commander, Mr. Taofeeq Sokumbi, confirmed the incident during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo. He attributed the accident to excessive speeding by the drivers involved, which led to the tragic loss of life.
The accident occurred near Joseph Ayo Babalola University, where the vehicles involved collided due to the dangerous speeds they were traveling. "This tragic event is a direct result of the driver's carelessness, particularly the excessive speeding, despite the known dangers on this route," Sokumbi said.
Sokumbi further emphasized the dangers of reckless driving, urging motorists to exercise caution to prevent such tragedies. He stated that the injured survivors had been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to a morgue.
The Sector Commander also issued a stern warning to motorists, stressing that the FRSC would take strict action against any road users found violating safety regulations in the state.
