Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has firmly stated his stance on loyalty, emphasizing that while he will always do what is right, he will not sacrifice his kidney or liver for anyone under the guise of loyalty.

Governor Fubara made these remarks during a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, which many believe was a direct response to recent comments made by his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Wike had earlier claimed credit for Fubara’s rise to power and accused him of abandoning those who supported him during his election. Fubara, however, countered these allegations, stating his commitment to standing for what is right, regardless of whether others join him.

“If I am the only one standing on the side of right, I will stand there. I won’t sacrifice my kidney or liver for anyone in the name of loyalty,” Fubara said.

He also denied Wike’s accusation that he was behind an alleged attempt to bomb an event in Port Harcourt. The governor maintained that he has never instructed any security agency to engage in illegal activities and took a jab at Wike, saying his administration has achieved more in one year than Wike’s did in eight.

Fubara further highlighted ongoing projects under his administration, including the construction of the Port Harcourt Ring Road, the Trans-Kalabari Road, and a psychiatric hospital in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, all funded without loans.

In a final dig at his predecessor, Fubara suggested that "those making noise for attention" have lost relevance. He reaffirmed his commitment to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and called for peaceful elections in the state.
