Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has dismissed the trending report that the twenty one newly inaugurated local government chairmen and councillors were subjected to oath taking before they were nominated as candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the just-concluded council poll.

The governor further contended that such fetish and esoteric actions are beneath his feet, hence he cannot condescend to share diabolism, recalling that the party’s constitution has made specific provisions for the nomination of candidates for every election.

He said the report has it that the oath taking was a condition to pledge their loyalty and failure to obey the oath would be tantamount to impeachment by the local legislative arm of government in the area.

According to the Commissioner for Information and Public Orientation, Dr Law Mefor; who spoke on his behalf, “This issue of oath taking is novel and strange to me.

I remember that it happened in the time past when a gubernatorial candidate was forced to take oath in a shrine, but not anymore and not under the watch of Governor Charles Soludo.
