In commemoration of the 2024 World Teachers Day, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, yesterday declared today, October 7, as a work free day for teachers in both public and private schools in the state.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi to that effect indicates that the holiday is with a view to identifying with all teachers throughout the state on the annual occasion in view of their invaluable contributions to the growth of education not only in Osun State and Nigeria, but the world at large.

The governor’s message which came on the occasion of this year’s World Teachers Day as issued to press men by Oluomo Alimi reads in part; “I, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State heartily congratulate all teachers throughout the world and in particular in my dear state, Osun on the annual occasion of the World Teachers’ Day being celebrated annually on October 5.

No thoughts for the PARENTS who have to now look for someone to look after their children or take a day off their own job to do so.

Other countries send well wishes to their teachers thanking them for their DEDICATION In raising and EDUCATING the YOUNGER  GENERATION.

Our Nigerian leaders enjoy INDISCRIMINATELY allocating PUBLIC HOLIDAYS - because they can - when we would rather go to work.
