I think it is a awful ideal. Even if a woman is not a virgin or have been married several times...wearing black in a wedding is distasteful. What color should the man wear so that everyone will know that he is no virgin?

Black gowns? Are you in mourning or marrying a widow? The use of white gowns should be restricted to pure virgins. Any other colours can be used for those that are no more virgins but who will agree in public that she's not a virgin?
