Two years is the minimum. Is not even about time. Its getting to know you are going to spend the rest of your life with. For example: u need to know if he/she quick to anger, his/her temperament etc....This is why you need enough time.

Four months isn't too soon,truth is you can never finsh studying your partner,the study continues after wedding even if you dated for 15years before marriage.
