The operation, which led to the latest discovery was carried out on February 3, 2012, by operatives of the Lagos State Command.
Unlike the first discovery in 2011, where only Nigerians were arrested, the recent one involved three foreign nationals and some Nigerians.
The suspected foreigners from Bolivia are , Yerko Artunduaga Dorado, 19, Ruben Ticona Jorge, 21, and Hugo Chavez Moreno, 39.
Two persons, Solomon Uzoka and Basil Uzoka, were said to be at large. The fourth suspect is a 23-year-old Uba Collins. The anti-narcotic agents also recovered 41.150 kilogramme of ephedrine, 4.8kg of Methamphetamine , other chemical and sundry gadgets used in the laboratory. Three vehicles, a Honda Accord , a Honda CRV and a Toyota 4 Runners(SUV), were also impounded by the operatives.
Two buildings used to perpetrated the criminal act have also been sealed off by the Agency.
According to the Chairman and Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade, there are indications that the drug was meant for export. He disclosed that the effects of methamphetamine abuse could be dangerous and horrifying. He said: “ When injected or smoked, it immediately produces an intensely pleasurable sensation, known as a ‘rush of a ‘flash’, by releasing high levels of dopamine in the brain.”
