Leader of the current resurgence of the country’s popular music, Kennis Music, and media conglomerate, Daar Communications, have pledged their unalloyed support for the world wrestling championship, tagged ‘Battle of Legends,’ slated for Friday, December 6, 2013.

The Battle of Legends holds at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, with Nigeria’s Osita Offor, better known by his ring moniker, De Ultimate Commander, defending his world heavyweight wrestling title against United States of America’s (US) Bobby Lashley.

Speaking in his Alagbado office while receiving De Commander and his promoters a few weeks back, Kennis Music’s chief executive officer, Kenny ‘KK’ Ogungbe, said he was delighted that a Nigerian wrestler was at the verge of adding the country’s name in the sport’s hall of fame and pledged to do all within his powers to make the dream a reality.

He said: “The kind of support we will give to you cannot be quantified in monetary terms. We will open our doors to you and ensure that the championship is a great success.
“On December 1, we will celebrate the one-year anniversary of Faaji FM, our new baby and we will invite you there to meet everybody that is somebody in the entertainment industry. And on behalf of the chairman of Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, I want to assure you that we are totally behind you.”

Earlier, De Commander had briefed the officials of Kennis Music and Daar Communications on his preparation for his title defence.
De Commander, who attributed his achievements in wrestling to the support he has been getting from the media, disclosed that he would soon move to the US for final preparations for the championship.

“Since I will be fighting American wrestlers, I will be travelling to the US to train with their stars and tune up my techniques ahead of the battle.

“I want to assure you that at the end of the fight against Bobby Lashley, Nigeria’s name would be embossed on the World heavyweight wrestling belt. It is a challenge that I have taken up and I want all Nigerians to come and support me to victory on December 6,” he said.

THE BATTLE OF THE LEGENDS where Sports meet Entertainment will also feature Tuface, Omawumi, Teemac, Yinka Davies, AY, Isaac Moses etc. on another stage in the same venue, promises to be an interesting nite.
