There is no enough details for some of us to determine if the man is guilty or not. However, a 17 years old girl taking a taxi with no money leave so many questions unanswered.
1) was it a consensual sex?
2) did the girl exchange a ride home with sex?
3) even if it was a consensual sex why did the old man sleep with a girl that young?
4) did the man admit to the offense?
5) did he take advantage of a young innocent girl because she was alone with him?
By the way, my sincere sympathy to the young innocent victim.

The girl could be making false statement after all, just that in America the mostly take into consideration the account of the female even if it's false....only God can save the poor man as it is often difficult to prove his case, cases do happen when a female will lied about being rape with no evidence and the man will still be jailed for doing nothing... God help us
