Last Friday Oct. 3 the winner of the 2014 Miss UNILAG beauty pageant was gifted with a brand new Toyota car along with an undisclosed cash reward and other undisclosed perks. The car gift Ms. Damilare Babajide a 400 Level student of the Law faculty received is a far cry from the laptop reward given to the winner of the university’s debate competition last month.
Do you think giving measly gifts to winners of academic competitions and giving expensive gifts to winners of beauty pageants could affect the morale of students in the course of their studies?

The leadership in Nigeria is a waste of vacuums, how does beauty pageant supercede the impact academy exaggeration in this planet, that is to tell you that there is no hope at all ,the youths suffer of their right without a remedy , I viewed that debate it was wholesome ,that babel nailed it , those pot belly should stops discourage own youths.

Ehm not surprised sha..' ah w0n best in mathematics and catering and craft..' while in sec. School.. Was given a lamp for maths and a graph for c/c...'.. Instead of vice versa..' so this news isn't a surprise at all

It all depends on the sponsors...one thing about perfect economy is that you spend your money the way u like, especially in the direction that the resources are flowing. Im not in support of beauty over academic but that's the direction world is moving. Beauty models are richer than academians. blame the market for it. their is more market for showbiz than books... But in the long run, the brilliant person (inventors) will still be the one solving problems and models will have to pay her for it
