Joseph Dosu has expressed his opinion that Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, deserves to be crowned 2014 Africa Footballer of the Year.
The Lille stopper was included in CAF’s 25-man shortlist for the prize, alongside compatriot Ahmed Musa and current holder Yaya Toure of Ivory Coast.
Dosu argued that Enyeama’s consistency puts him head and shoulder above the other nominated players.
“Enyeama [Vincent] no doubt is one of the best in Africa. He has been impressive form for his club in the French league, Champions League and the Europa league. He has also done well for the national team,” Dosu told Goal.
“He stands a very good chance of been named in the top three but can’t really say if he will eventually win because it has always been very difficult to be named the best in Africa, though, few goalkeepers have won it before but that was in the past.
“This time, I think it will be more difficult but should he win it, Nigerians will be very happy and that will boost his profile.
“For Ahmed Musa, he has done well for his club and the national team. It is good that he is being nominated but I think Enyeama stands a better chance.”
