With the help of his teenage daughters Malia, 16, and Sasha, 13, President Barack Obama undertook a White House’s tradition of pardoning a turkey on Wednesday. Obama first introduced the two birds amusingly named Mac and Cheese then went on to give a short speech.

Today I'm taking an action fully within my legal authority, the same kind of action taken by Democrats and Republican presidents before me to spare the lives of two turkeys, Mac and Cheese, from a terrible and delicious fate."

"Let's face it, if you're a turkey and named after a side dish, your chances of escaping Thanksgiving dinner are pretty low," Obama added. "So these guys are well ahead of the curve, they really beat the odds."
