A 40-year old meat seller, Saidi Akanbi, was yesterday arraigned for allegedly stabbing a spare parts dealer. Akanbi, who pleaded not guilty, is facing two-count charge of assault and threat to life at an Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court in Lagos. The Prosecutor, Cpl. Oladejo Balogun, told the court that the accused assaulted one Jacob Orie by stabbing him on the hand with a knife.

``Akanbi pursued Orie along the road with knife after a quarrel in front of the complainant’s shop; he finally stabbed his hand,’’ he said.

Magistrate Maimunat Folami granted the accused bail in the sum of N20, 000 with a surety in like sum. She said the surety should be a blood relation of the accused and a resident at Ejigbo. The court fixed the trial for Dec. 16. (NAN)
