A popular mechanic village, in Warri, Delta state was on fire today, Friday, December 4, as a pipeline explosion rocked the area.
According to Ireporter, the explosion was statred by the activities of vandals who tampered with NNPC pipelines to siphon petrol. An eyewitness said: “Our vehicle just turned back. It was caused by vandals of pipeline again the pipeline which leads from army checkpoint was vandalized by those rough boys yesterday, vehicles have stopped moving now”.
Residents of the area have been thrown into a state of panic.
Most pipeline explosions in time past have been blamed on the activities of oil thieves. Just two weeks ago a pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Warri main town, Delta state, exploded resulting in a massive inferno.
The cause of the fire which erupted close to the Mammy Barracks, not far from a shopping mall in the area could not be ascertained. For more scintillating and juicy stories, follow the official Naijapals accounts On Twitter - https://twitter.com/Naijapals and Facebook - www.facebook.com/naijapals
