Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State  yesterday, said the pensioners in the state may have the payment of their gratuities delayed due to the dwindling allocation from the Federal Government to the states.
Amosun stated this at his Oke Mosan office when he met with the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun State chapter executives and some members.
According to governor Amosun, the meeting with the leaders of the pensioners was based on media reports that the governor owed them pension and gratuities running into many months.
He explained that he had gone the extra mile to ensure that they (pensioners) got their monthly pension, adding that, though  he had not been able to offset all their gratuities due to the dwindling allocation to the state from the Federal Government.
The governor said no bank would lend any governor money to pay gratuities, because there “is nothing in it for them.”
Earlier, the chairman of the NUP, Ogun State chapter, Chief Kessington Odukoya, and other executive members begged the governor to increase their monthly pension since some of them still get below N5,000.

The Federal Government should provide the right of this state so as to enable them pay what they are owing.
