The governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on Thursday 28th September, 2017, at the Golden Hall, Chelsea Hotel, Abuja, declared his intention to run for the presidency in 2019 general election.
Meanwhile, earlier in his speech, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Femi Fani-Kayode, said that no force can stop the outspoken governor, from becoming the next president of Nigeria, adding that the PDP has also been blessed with the governor being a member of the party.

I predicted it last year, though I'm not a prophet, I sure felt it that he would come out to contest for that job. Every right thinking Nigerian should vote for him. He is the people's governor, he tells it like it is, not divisive, does not see himself as better than an ordinary citizen, and he is a champion of defense for the oppressed and victimized people. I will surely vote for him, and I will encourage everybody I know to vote for him.
