Forbes has published an article claiming that recent reports that Kanye West is worth nearly $7 billion are based on sales that don’t exist yet.
The publication presented its own calculations, stating that West is only worth around $1.8 billion USD. This means that Vista Equity’s Robert F. Smith remains the richest Black person in the U.S., with an estimated net worth of $6 billion USD. On the other hand, Aliko Dangote remains the richest Black person in the world with $11.8 billion in net worth.
According to Forbes, the Yeezy brand is worth approximately $1.5 billion USD. West is expected to have earned $191 million USD in royalties last year on his decade-long production deal with adidas. As for the income from Yeezy, West earned $214 million USD in 2020 from the brand he wholly-owns.
Over time, Kanye West has also accumulated $160 million USD in assets, including “$9.3 million USD in artwork, $7.6 million worth of jewelry, $5 million worth of vehicles, $3.4 million worth of furniture and $1 million worth of livestock.” Ye’s music catalog rakes in an estimated $90 million USD for the rap mogul, while his investment into soon-to-be-ex-wife Kim Kardashian‘s Skims brand brings in $64 million USD.
