Shock and outrage have gripped Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State following the gruesome murder of a 3-year-old girl, Asiya Zakari Ya’u, allegedly by suspected ritualists who mutilated her body, removing her eyes and honeypot.
The harrowing discovery was made after the girl had been declared missing for two agonizing days, sending waves of distress through the community before her lifeless body was found dumped in Ningi township.
According to sources within the village, the parents of the deceased, residents of Sabuwar Denawa, were alerted to the tragic news by Almajiri boys from a nearby Qur’anic school.
Local law enforcement became aware of the heinous crime through a report filed by Malam Saleh, who stumbled upon the girl's mutilated remains near a graveyard.
Confirming the incident, Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson, Ahmed Wakili, revealed in a telephone interview on Saturday that a medical examination conducted at the hospital confirmed the girl's death, following which her body was released to her grief-stricken parents for burial.
Wakili Ahmed further stated that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter, with the aim of bringing the perpetrators of this abhorrent act to justice.
As the community grapples with the horrific loss and demands swift action, all eyes are on law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible for this barbaric crime are swiftly apprehended and face the full wrath of the law.
