Football fans have expressed their concern for Cristiano Ronaldo after a new photo shared by the Al-Nassr forward.
Ronaldo, who turned 39 in February, posted a photo to his Instagram stories with the one-word caption 'Recharging'. In the photo, he tags Erakulis, the self-described 'All in one wellness experience' of which he is a founder.
The photo shows Ronaldo sat by a pool, with only his feet visible. However, some took in the image and shared their concern at the toll a lengthy football career has taken on the Portugal international.
"22 years of pro footy man look at his feet.. he wakes up with crazy pain everyday for sure," one fan wrote. "This is one of the silent battles players have to go through, imagine the pain," wrote another.
Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr after leaving Manchester United midway through the 2022-23 season, has racked up more than 1,000 senior club appearances across five countries. And one fan had a novel idea for how the forward can make clear the toll it has taken on his body.
"Said this so many times he should take an 8k image of his legs and feet when he retires to show all the endurance of his feet and legs," they wrote. "I think he should walk off the field bare foot with his socks in his boots and his boots in his hand."
Ronaldo was enjoying a break after scoring the only goal of the game in a victory over Al-Ahli on Friday. It was the forward's first goal since he served a one-game ban following a controversial celebration in the win at Al-Shabab.
