"Our leaders chose the feast rather than the fast," remarked Bishop Kukah, underscoring the consequences of decades of neglect and mismanagement. "For over 60 years, our leaders have looked like men in a drunken stupor, staggering, stumbling and fumbling, slurring in speech, with blurred visions searching for the way home."
In a call to action, Bishop Kukah implored the government to adopt urgent measures to address the pressing economic challenges and alleviate the suffering of the populace, emphasizing the need for inclusive policies to combat nepotism and promote national cohesion.
"The government must design a more comprehensive and wide-ranging method of recruitment that is transparent," urged the bishop, advocating for a departure from entrenched systems of favoritism and cronyism.
Furthermore, Bishop Kukah stressed the importance of clear communication and accountability in governance, urging the government to articulate tangible goals and timelines for achieving national objectives.

"No other person than the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, who recently referred to the military as facing the dilemma of what he called ‘see finish,’" noted Bishop Kukah, highlighting the urgent need to restore public trust in the security apparatus.
In a plea for decisive action, Bishop Kukah urged President Bola Tinubu to treat kidnapping and banditry as acts of terrorism, calling for a relentless campaign to eradicate these threats and restore peace and security across the nation.
