In a swift response to ongoing security concerns, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) apprehended a robbery suspect, identified as Akinjobi Wahab, aged 19, as he attempted to snatch their motorcycle while wielding a machete.
The arrest took place at approximately 4 a.m. along Acme Road in Agidingbi, Ikeja, with the suspect found in the company of four others who managed to evade capture.
The successful apprehension follows heightened security measures implemented by the RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, in light of recurrent reports of robbery incidents occurring in the early hours around the Agidingbi area of Ikeja.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, affirmed that investigations are underway, and the suspect will be arraigned once the inquiry is concluded.
The proactive intervention by RRS operatives underscores the commitment of law enforcement authorities to maintaining public safety and combating criminal activities in the community. Such initiatives serve to reassure residents and deter potential offenders, contributing to a safer and more secure environment for all.
