In a significant victory against terrorism, the Nigerian Army troops of 144 Battalion, Operation Hadin Kai, have apprehended a high-ranking commander of the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP), identified as Saidu Hassan Yellow, also known as Abu Saidu. The arrest, which took place during an intelligence-led operation, marks a crucial milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat insurgency in the region.

Abu Saidu, a notorious figure within the terrorist network, was captured in a sting operation conducted by the troops at the bustling Mubi Market General area on April 9, 2024. The successful operation was the culmination of meticulous planning and coordination by the Nigerian Army's counterinsurgency forces.

According to intelligence sources close to the operation, the 32-year-old Saidu Hassan Yellow is believed to be the mastermind behind the devastating attack on Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on November 12, 2021. During this attack, Commander 28 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier-General Dzarma Zirkusu, and three soldiers tragically lost their lives while providing reinforcement in a counter-offensive against the terrorists.

Items recovered from the apprehended suspect included three mobile handsets, three ATM cards, a wristwatch, four rings, a bunch of keys, and the sum of N1900. These findings serve as potential leads for further investigations into the activities and network of the terrorist group.

The captured terrorists have been transferred to military high command for thorough investigation and profiling. This development underscores the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Army in the fight against insurgency and terrorism, as they continue to dismantle terrorist networks and bring perpetrators to justice.

As the investigation progresses, the Nigerian Army remains vigilant and resolute in their mission to ensure the safety and security of citizens across the nation.
