The Plateau State Police Command announced the arrest of two suspects linked to an armed robbery in Mavo Community, Wase Local Government Area. The successful operation also led to the recovery of weapons and a stolen motorcycle.
DSP Alfred Alabo, the Public Relations Officer for the command, revealed details of the operation during a press briefing in Jos, the state capital. According to DSP Alabo, the arrests were made possible by actionable intelligence received by the police on April 10, 2024, concerning a robbery incident where a local man was forcibly dispossessed of his motorcycle.
The suspects, identified as Musa Adamu and Sale Joga, were apprehended by detectives from the Wase Division, aided by local security groups. Law enforcement officers recovered an AK-47 rifle with 7.62mm ammunition among other items.
DSP Alabo expressed gratitude towards the residents of Plateau for their crucial support and cooperation, which he described as instrumental in enhancing the police's effectiveness against criminal elements in the region. The Commissioner of Police, Hassan Yabanet, echoed these sentiments, thanking the community for their role in the arrests and reinforcing the commitment of the police to maintaining law and order.
The Commissioner issued a stern warning to potential offenders about the relentless efforts of law enforcement to combat crime in the state. He stated that criminals should either reform or leave the state as the police force is intensifying its operations against illegal activities.
The case is still under investigation, and the suspects will be formally charged once the process is concluded.
