Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and president general of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has emphasized the critical role of agriculture in mitigating economic challenges and reducing the high cost of living in Nigeria.

In his Eid-el Kabir message to Nigerian Muslims, Sultan Abubakar urged citizens to prioritize farming, especially during the current rainy season, to bolster food production and meet the nation’s growing demand. He underscored the importance of agricultural productivity in alleviating societal hardships and boosting the economy.

"We should all return to farming and increase our efforts in food production, as this will significantly improve our living conditions and strengthen the country's economy," Sultan Abubakar advised. "While acknowledging the efforts of our leaders to alleviate hardship, it is clear that more needs to be done, especially for our people facing challenges, particularly in the north."

The Sultan also called for continued prayers for Nigerian leaders, highlighting the pivotal role of supplication in addressing societal needs. He commended the security agencies for their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens and applauded Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his initiatives in supporting the less privileged.

Expressing gratitude to the Muslim community for their dedication to Islamic values, Sultan Abubakar encouraged faith and optimism in overcoming the country’s current difficulties. He extended prayers for the safe return of Nigerian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia and urged them to pray fervently for the nation and its leadership.

As Nigeria navigates various challenges, Sultan Abubakar’s call for enhanced agricultural focus resonates as a proactive step towards sustainable economic growth and improved livelihoods for all citizens.
