The Adamawa State Police Command has announced a significant breakthrough in its crackdown on organised crime involving personnel from the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) and local vigilante members.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the operation was launched following actionable intelligence. A team of detectives swiftly moved to a warehouse located in Limawa Ward, Yola North Local Government Area, where the illicit activities were reportedly taking place.
In a coordinated raid, police arrested a total of eight suspects, comprising three ADSEMA staff members and five vigilantes. The suspects, whose ages range between 22 and 53, were apprehended red-handed.
During the operation, law enforcement recovered 98 bags containing maize, millet, and guinea corn, believed to have been stolen and stockpiled for illegal distribution.
Commending the swift action of the DPO of Jimeta Police Station and his team, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris highlighted their professionalism and dedication, which led to the successful arrests and recovery of the stolen grains.
The arrests underscore the ongoing efforts by the Adamawa State Police Command to root out corruption and criminal activities involving public officials and local security operatives, ensuring accountability and maintaining public trust in law enforcement agencies.
Investigations into the case are ongoing, with authorities vowing to prosecute those found culpable to the fullest extent of the law, sending a clear message against corruption and criminal collusion within government agencies and community security groups.
