Eighteen individuals suspected of engaging in widespread vandalism across Jigawa State have been apprehended by local police. The arrests were confirmed by Police Commissioner Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi during a press briefing at the state command's headquarters in Dutse.
Commissioner Abdullahi revealed that the suspects were captured over a four-month period, following reports of their involvement in the destruction of public property for personal gain.
“The vandals were detained in several locations, including Yankwashi, Roni, and Taura local government areas, where they were found to be tampering with electronic wire cables,” Abdullahi stated.
He provided details of one significant incident: “On Monday night around 10:30 PM, we received an emergency call about a group tampering with electrical cables supplying power to Zugai village in Roni LGA. Detectives from the Roni Division acted swiftly and arrested the suspects at the scene.”
