The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of renowned investigative journalist PIDOM, following concerns raised by fellow journalist David Hundeyin about PIDOM’s sudden disappearance.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 24, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed that PIDOM, whose real name is Bristol Isaac Tamunobiefiri, was apprehended by officials from the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) on August 5, 2024, in Rivers State. The arrest was made in connection with allegations of serious offenses that allegedly compromise the integrity of government operations.
According to the police statement, PIDOM faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession and leakage of classified documents, as well as cyber-related offenses. The police assured the public that a thorough investigation is being conducted to address the charges against him.
“The force will leave no stone unturned in enforcing the law and ensuring a more secure nation for all Nigerians,” ACP Adejobi stated.
PIDOM, who is well-known on the social media platform X for his investigative reporting, has not been seen or heard from since his arrest, prompting widespread concern among his followers and colleagues in the journalism community.
The police have not yet disclosed further details about the nature of the alleged offenses or the ongoing investigation.
