Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Monday, November 5, paid a visit to the former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, at his Lagos residence.
Fayose, known for his outspoken views, shared news of the visit on his verified Twitter page, sparking significant reactions from followers and supporters.
Both Makinde and Fayose are prominent figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Notably, Fayose supported Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Lagos State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the 2023 presidential election.
Makinde, on the other hand, was a key member of the G-5 Governors—alongside other PDP leaders like Nyesom Wike—who opposed their party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Lere Olayinka, a close aide to Fayose, also confirmed the visit on his Twitter page, stating, “Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, during his visit to former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, in Lagos today.”
There had been speculations around the presidential ambition of Makinde, ahead of the 2027 election.
Makinde in a recent PDP South-West meeting said he alone will decide the course of his political future, responding to speculation about a possible presidential bid in 2027.
He emphasized that the upcoming election would be a contest between the ruling party and the Nigerian people.
