Delta State Police Command, has called om the government to criminalise the circulation of old videos on social media.
It was gathered that the Command’s Spokesman, Bright Edafe, led this out on Thursday, while reacting to a video, capturing some police officers in uniform, along Benin-Onitsha road.
The development is coming, following a video, shared by an X user, identified as @agnes-nwanneka, captioned: “Nigeria Police on Benin-Onitsha road attempting to take a travellers dollars found in his handbag.”
Reacting to the post, Edafe, stressed the need for the regulation of social media.
He added that social media users who intentionally repost old videos, where police officer were spotted engaging in different misconducts, just to damage the image of Nigeria Police Force, need to be criminalized.
Edafe said: “Reason why social media must be regulated. This is a video of over two year ago.
“A formal press released was issued and the officers sanctioned. Here we go again.”
