The same reason black ppl remained in slavery for 400 yrs.  It's mind control, nobody likes to be oppressed, but the oppressor knows how to control and use the victim and will continue to do so until the victim finds the strength to leave, or someone comes along and rescue them.  Mental slavery is the most powerful form of slavery.

Who ever said fear is the reason why they do not want to leave an abusive relationship may want to forgive me if I disagree. Women have always had an attraction for the socially forbidden or morally unavailable. Anyone has the will to change anything they do not want and women are no exception. Any woman in an abusive relationship is there largely by choice. Sorry to say this but, women do not like nice guys. Like horses, they believe they must be 'tamed and conquered' before they yield themselves to a guy. Not every guy who tames you before he wins your heart is interested in a long-term relationship with you. I you place yourself like a prize for the highest bidder, there's a good chance that the highest bidder may not be the most qualified. Remember, you do not have to cook every food before you eat it. Not every woman needs a flamboyant man who must chase her before she gives him her heart
