SOUTH AFRICA,Johannesburg - A man believed to be HIV-positive has been arrested for molesting his 10-year-old stepdaughter in Soweto, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.

"The girl was apparently raped sometime last week, but she only disclosed the information to a family member yesterday [Monday]," said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.

The relative opened a case at the local police station and said the man was HIV-positive.

The girl was in hospital being examined and counselled, said Makhubela.

The 46-year-old man is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

The girl's mother was not at home at the time of the rape.
