hmmmm Naija----Baba Suwe, yet to excrete suspected cocaine – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has confirm it has  ace actor Omidina Babatunde also known as Baba Suwe , in its custody and that the comedian placed under observation is yet to excrete suspected ingested drug.

The Agency spokesman Mitchell Ofoyeju, told Vanguard that the actor who was arrested around 10pm on Wednesday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, is yet to excrete any drug.

Meanwhile the NDLEA Airport commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar who confirmed that Mr. Omidina Babatunde was in safe custody, told Vangaurd that the actor who  about boarding  an Air France flight to Paris, allegedly tested positive to drug ingestion and had been placed under observation.

He also stated that preliminary findings have shown that the actor was to act as a compere for the naming ceremony of his friend’s daughter in Paris.


 According to Hamza, “there is reasonable ground for suspicion and the actor is currently under observation. He is fine and had been eating but has not excreted”.

Meanwhile, the actor will still be under observation. The Agency’s doctor has also been invited to examine him. This according to the NDLEA is crucial to ascertain the true position.

 The actor is fine and cooperating with narcotic investigators. Further up-date on the matter shall be made known to the general public.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has said that ace actor and comedian, Omidina Babatunde also known as Baba Suwe , has made the first excretion this evening but no drug has so far been found on him.

The actor who was to board an Air France flight to Paris at about 10pm on Wednesday 12 October, 2011 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, when he allegedly tested positive to drug ingestion and was placed under observation.

NDLEA Airport commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar who confirmed that Mr. Omidina Babatunde was in safe custody added that the process of placing suspected persons under observation was the agency’s usual practice.

According to Hamza, “there is reasonable ground for suspicion and the actor is currently under observation. He is fine and has gone for the first excretion but no drug had been found on him. We have in the past recovered drugs after the fourth excretion. It is just the normal process for all passengers.

“The actor will still be under observation. The agency’s doctor has examined him and he is cooperating with narcotic investigators. Further up-date on the matter shall be made known to the general public,” NDLEA said.

Nigerians, especially Baba Suwe’s teeming fans, have been waiting anxiously waiting for the outcome of the aiport alleged drug drama which the NDLEA wants to see to its logical conclusion.

Ace  Actor and comedian, Omidina Babatunde a.k.a Baba Suwe now in the custody of the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, over alleged possession of cocaine was said to have made his first self excretion but no drug was found in it.

Disclosing this development to Saturday Vanguard, the Head of Public Affairs, NDLEA, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju however said Suwe was still under close observation by the agency to know what actually went wrong.

Baba Suwe was nabbed aboard an Air France aircraft to Paris at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos at about 10pm on Wednesday when he allegedly tested positive to drug ingestion and had been placed under observation since then.

Earlier yesterday, the NDLEA had expressed concern that Suwe who was on his way to attend the naming ceremony of his close friend in Paris had not been able to excrete despite the fact that he was ‘’eating very well and co-operating with narcotic investigators.’’ ‘
