ALL OVER THE WORLD APART FROM THE JEWS, NO COUNTRY HAS BEEN MISTREATED LIKE THE NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA. WHETHER IN AMERICA, EUROPE, ASIA,OR IN AFRICAN COUNTRIES AND EVEN THE ECOWAS SUB REGIONAL COUNTRIES. NIGERIAN HAVE BEEN CONTINUALLY BEEN GIVEN THE WORST OF THE TREATMENTS AS IF THERE IS NO FOREIGNERS IN OUR DEAR COUNTRY. FROM NORTH AFRICAN COUNTRIES, SOUTH AFRICA, ZIMBABWE, ANGOLA, CAMEROUN, TOGO, AND EVEN GHANA NIGERIANS ARE MISTREATED VARIOUS WAYS  BEYOND THE IMAGINATION OF THE NIGERIANS AT HOME. IN CASE U DONT KNOW IT YET, GHANA HAVE COME UP WITH A POLICY OF REPATRIATING FOREIGNERS WHO DO TRADING BUSINESS IN THEIR COUNTRY, AND THEIR MAIN TARGET IS THE NIGERIANS BCOS THE FOREIGNERS ARE DOING BETTER THAN THEIR CITIZENS IN TRADING BUSINESS.
THEY SAY NIGERIA IS BAD AND CORRUPT, WELL THEN, TELL ME OF ONE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD THAT HAVE ONLY THE GOOD PEOPLE AND I WILL TELL THE COUNTRY THAT HAS ALREADY RESERVED THEIR TICKET TO HEAVEN. BUT IF ACTUALLY THERE IS NO ONE THAT IS RIGHTEOUS ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE, WHY SHOULD SOME PEOPLE CONTINUE POINTING ACCUSING FINGERS ON OTHER PEOPLE. IT IS WRONG TO JUDGE ANOTHER PEOPLE WITH ONES OWN VALUE SYSTEM AND STANDARD SEEING THAT WE DO NOT COME FROM THE SAME SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT.
ONE THING I HAVE DISCOVERED IN THE COURSE OF STUDY, I HAVE IDENTIFIED TWO REASONS WHY NIGERIAN ARE BEING ANTAGONIZED IN MANY PARTS OF THE WORLD. JEALOUSY,HATRED AND MEDIA BIAS. OF THE THREE I THINK THE LAST ONE, MEDIA BIAS PLAYS A MAJOR ROLE. THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH IN THE COUNTRY HAS BEEN OVERBLOWN. I HAVE NOT SEEN A PEOPLE WHO TALK BAD OF THEIR COUNTRY AND THEIR PEOPLE AS NIGERIANS. BY SO DOING THEY SELL THEMSELVES OVER TO THE FOREIGN COUNTRIES. AND WHAT THOSE AT HOME DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE THEIR CRITICAL VIEWS DO TO NIGEIRIANS IN DIASPORA. HOW NIGERIAN ARE PORTRAYED BY NIGERIANS DETERMINE HOW THEY ARE PERCEIVED, AND HOW THEY ARE PERCEIVED DETERMINE HOW THEY ARE TO BE TREATED BY FOREIGNERS, THE NEGATIVE IMAGE SOLD OUT BY NIGERIANS AT HOME ARE THEE TOOLS USED TO ATTACK THOSE OF US IN THE DIASPORA. INDIVIDUAL RECKLESS TALKS ABOUT OUR PEOPLE, MEDIA  CRITICISMS, OUR NOLLYWOOD PORTRAYAL AND OVER BLOWING OF EVILS IN OUR SOCIETY, THESE DO NOT HELP THE IMAGE OF NIGERIA AT ALL. IN THE COURSE OF MY TRAVEL LING IN THE WORLD, I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY PEOPLE AS CRITICAL OF THEIR COUNTRY AS NIGERIANS.
WE SHOULD REALIZE THAT CORRUPTION, CRIME, SIN, IMMORALITY, SOCIAL MISBEHAVIOR ARE THE IDENTIFYING MARKS THAT IS COMMON TO  EVERY GENERATION,  PEOPLE, COMMUNITIES, COUNTRIES, AND SECTS. I AM NOT TRYING TO JUSTIFY CERTAIN ILLS IN OUR SOCIETY, RATHER I AM ONLY ASKING FOR A MORE REALISTIC APPROACH IN THE ISSUE OF SELF CONDEMNATION WHICH HAVE A VERY FAR REACHING NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON THE IMAGE OF OUR PEOPLE AND OUR COUNTRY. WE ARE AWARE OF THE DANGER OF USING BAD LANGUAGES ON A CHILD WHO WILL CERTAINLY GROW UP TO BE BAD.
THERE IS URGENT NEED TO RE BRAND NIGERIA TODAY, LETS CHANGE OUR MINDSET, THEN OUR LANGUAGE. LETS TALK GOOD ABOUT OUR PEOPLE, OUR COUNTRY, AFTER ALL WHAT YOU CALL YOURSELF IS WHAT OTHERS WILL CALL YOU. I TRAVELED TO GHANA, AND I WAS AMAZED AT WHAT I SAW, NO ONE GHANAIAN  TALKED BAD OF THEIR PEOPLE, AT LEAST TO MY HEARING. SO OUTSIDERS WILL NOT HAVE ANY OCCASION TO TALK BAD ABOUT THEM. I THINK NIGERIA SHOULD TRY AND BORROW A LEAF FROM GHANA.

It is refreshing to see a topic with substance posted on this sight. Poster, I really appreciate your insight and your patriotism. Communication and constructive criticism are tools we can use to educate our people thereby building a better country. However, I must disagree with you on the point that Nigerians are being treated badly because of hatred jealousy and media bias.
Who exactly are you referring to that hate Nigeria? Who is jealous? What are they jealous of and why?  As for media bias, lets not concern ourselves with foreign media at this point, because half the time the don't know what they talking about and the rest of the time they have their own agenda which is meant to feed their interest. Our focus should be the Nigerian Media and the role they play in our society. I do agree with you that Nigerians need to be more positive in their out look and what they say about our dear country. At the same time it would be wrong not to tell the truth. Most Nigerians including myself are frustrated because we have not lived up to our potential. Our infrastructure is horrid at best. Bad roads, poor public school system, inadequate electricity, lawlessness, and poverty are all issues we can not close our eyes to. I believe that Nigerians are been treated worse in Nigeria than any foreign country. There are more Nigerians suffering right here in Nigeria than any other part of the world. Lets pray that one day Nigeria will be blessed with leaders that have the interest of Nigeria at heart and be less concern with how much money they can funnel out of our country into foreign banks. Thank you for your attention. God bless u and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
