President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday summoned the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Alison-Madueke and some principal Staff of the NNPC to explain their understanding of the alleged $20bn claimed by the erstwhile CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, to have been robbed by the Ministry of Petroleum Affairs, NaijaSharpNews correspondents have reported.
The closed door meeting which was held at the Presidential Villa, was the first since the President suspended the erstwhile Governor of the Central Bank, Sanusi Lamido, over allegations of financial inconsistencies, excesses. In the meeting apart from the principal staff of the NNPC, was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Ahmed Makarfi. Senator Makarfi, NaijaSharpNews gathers, is already digging into the alleged missing funds.
The meeting, according to sources, raised fears that the President may sack the embattled Minister of Petroleum Resources should Mrs. Madueke fail to provide sufficient explanations as demanded by the President Jonathan.
