The police have tear-gassed women who barricaded the entrance into State Secretariat of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, ahead of the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Tear gas canisters were used to disperse the women, who are believed to be loyalists of All Progressives Congress, APC.

It was reported that the women had refused to leave the police in spite of repeated appeals to them by the police.

The Director of Rochas Campaign Organization, Iheukwumere Alaribe, addressed journalists on the development, going on to condemn the use of tear gas on the women, while also accusing the police of brutality.

He said: “The APC will not accept any form of intimidation from the PDP”, adding that security agencies should “remain loyal to Nigeria and Nigerians and not to any particular political party”.
