SOME of the Nigerian women living abroad have threatened to mobilise women in the country to embark on a seven-day sex strike if President Goodluck Jonathan failed to declare interest in the 2011 presidential election by Friday, August 20.
The ultimatum was contained in a press statement issued by the Nigerian chapter of the Africa Women in Diaspora (OAWDN), a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, on Tuesday.
According to the statement signed by the communication officer of the group, Mrs Patricia Badejo, the women were desperate to have the president contest the election because he had been sensitive to gender issues, especially those concerning widows and orphans since his assumption of office.
“We unequivocally support the presidential bid of Dr Jonathan and call on him to declare his interest to contest the election on or before Friday August 20, failure of which would force the women to embark on a-seven-day sex starvation.
“We will appeal to well meaning Nigerian women all over the world to join with us in the journey of sex-starvation.
“We will call on all wives, girlfriends, sex workers and girls within the age of consent to boycott sex for the specified number of days, starting from Friday, August 20 to Friday, August 27,” the statement read.
