There was a fire incident at the Federal Ministry of Finance early hours of today.

An expired inverter battery at the ministry of finance was said, ignited a fire after it exploded in the early hours of Wednesday.

However, the fire according to eyewitnesses did not cause any major damage to the building as it was promptly responded to and put out.

Confirming the incident, an official of the ministry said it was “a minor fire incident.”

Eye witnesses said that fire extinguishers strategically located in the premises were used to successfully fight the fire, even before the arrival of the Fire Service men.

Staff and support staff were observed working at their posts unruffled by the incident.

When contacted, the Media Assistant to the Minister, Mallam Tanko Yunusa Abdullahi denied reports that the ministry’s building was on fire.

“Not true. Finance building not on fire. Just an incident on the corridor of the basement with an isolated battery pack and it was quickly put out by the security personnel on duty,” Tanko responded to New Telegraph’s inquiry.

Why was it not trashed if it has expired?
