Edo Police Confirm Kidnap Of Dangote Cement Workers, Rescue 3 Injured Victims

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap a yet-to-be-specified number of workers of Dangote Cement workers at Okpella, Etsako West local government area of the state.

The Command in a statement on Tuesday by its spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, also confirmed the rescue of three injured victims of the kidnap.

Recall that on Monday, 13 May, 2024, Dare-devil gunmen had accosted the bus conveying workers of Dangote Cement factory and abducted the victims.

The police statement disclosed that following a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer of Okpella mobilized his operatives, vigilantes group, and the hunters into the forest for a vigorous bush combing operations to rescue the victims unhurt and to arrest the kidnappers.

“In the process, one Omoba “M” whose other names are unknown was rescued, and at a look, it was discovered that he was with some bullet injuries on the back, shot by the hoodlums. He was immediately rushed to Halimatu Musa Hospital for medical attention,” the Edo police image maker said.

Nwanbuzor added that one other victim who was earlier shot at the point of the attack and another victim one Victor Okon, were rushed to the same hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, has given a marching order to the DPO of Okpella Division, the vigilantes group and the hunters to intensify the bush-combing exercise to ensure a speedy rescue of the remaining victims and to effect the arrest of the kidnappers.

The CP gave the directive during his visit to Dangote Cement Factory Okpella and the Halimatu Musa Hospital, where he met with the injured victims of the kidnap.
