Aisha Abubakar, a prominent women leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has confessed to serving as an informant for bandits involved in a kidnapping scheme in Katsina State. Her revelation came to light in a widely circulated interrogation video.
According to Abubakar's admission, she played a crucial role in orchestrating the kidnapping of five family members of the APC chairman of Tsaiyaya Ward. She disclosed that she received only N5,000 out of the N9 million ransom and a motorcycle that was paid to the bandits. The kidnapping operation targeted Alhaji Sanusi, his two wives, and three children, and was executed in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In the video, Abubakar described her involvement in detail, explaining how she was approached by a suspect named Zainab, who is currently at large. She agreed to provide information on the whereabouts of Alhaji Sanusi and the APC chairman's family to facilitate the kidnapping. Despite the large ransom amount, Abubakar received a meager share of N5,000, with an additional N15,000 promised to her after a wedding ceremony in Zaria.
Furthermore, Abubakar admitted to participating in a cattle rustling operation in Tsaiyaya, which also earned her N20,000. She named other key individuals involved in the community, including Yahaya, Audu na Bani, and the children of Bashar.
The confession has sent shockwaves through the political and local communities, highlighting the deep infiltration of criminal networks within political structures. Authorities are expected to take further action as the investigation into the criminal activities and Abubakar's role continues.
