A 25-year-old tailor, Murtala Hassan, was tragically killed by suspected hoodlums in Niger State on Sunday evening.
Hassan was returning from his shop in Sabon Angwa, Chanchaga Local Government Area, when he reportedly encountered the thugs shortly after they attacked the Kpakungu vigilante security outpost at the Kpakungu roundabout in Minna.
According to the Niger State Police Command, the incident occurred after a violent confrontation broke out at the Barkin-Sale area of Minna on December 29, around 11 pm. The Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed that Hassan was fatally stabbed in the back while trying to intervene and separate the fighting miscreants.
"Police operatives from the Kpakungu Division responded promptly, recovering the victim’s body and arresting one Ali Sale in connection with the crime," Abiodun stated.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and working to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the deadly altercation.
