Residents, who spoke anonymously to DAILY POST, revealed that the boy’s hands and legs were tied by his brother, and his body was then pierced with a hot knife. The mother reportedly attempted to seek help only after realizing that her son was dying.
"She ran out in distress, calling for assistance. But tragically, her son passed away before they could get him to the hospital," one source said.
The source further disclosed that the woman had been previously evicted from a nearby compound due to conflicts with neighbors.
Before his death, the boy reportedly worked as a fish hawker for his mother and was also learning how to repair handsets.
SP Bright Edafe, the Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Police Command, confirmed that no official report had been filed regarding the incident. Investigations are underway.
