There were conflicting reports on the number of suspects arrested as some put the figure at 10, others said two.
But the police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said there was no cause for alarm as the election materials in question were “Tendered ballot papers.”
According to sources, some ‘good Samaritans’ had at about 1.15pm raised the alarm over strange movement of presidential ballot papers without security cover.
The concerned Samaritans had alerted the Utako District Police Division leading to a stop and search operation by the police.
But before the police could intercept the bus, there was tension in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The police team however succeeded in trailing the bus and took the suspects to Utako District Police Station for interrogation.
As the suspects were being interrogated, many anxious residents surrounded the police station to await the outcome.
